NOW AS I CLOSE MY EYES

Now as I close my eyes
...by the curtain you will stand,
with the rainbow-ribboned skies reflected in your eyes....

Now, as I close my eyes, the image of you lingers - as if I had been staring at the sun.
It no longer fades and dies - or slips right through my fingers when it hardly had begun
to touch my waiting mind with pictures that you paint in colours all your own...
Now as I close my eyes....

Now, as I close my eyes, I need not fear on waking that I will find a hundred miles of sea
and even more of pride, have built, instead of breaking down, the wall 'tween you and me...
But rather to my sight your nearness brings that light that's yours and yours alone
Now as I close my eyes....

I've been trying to stay awake - with my head upon your knee
but your warm and resting body's like a lullaby to me...

Now as I close my eyes, I know that in my sleeping you'll be there to guard my dream.
With the songbirds we will rise- to watch the dawn come creeping, red and gold, upon the sea....
By the curtain you will stand with the rainbow-ribboned skies reflected in your eyes....
Now as I close my eyes...now as I close my eyes.... with you I can close my eyes....
