Out on the bridge there was a stillness in the mist.
The tired lights of night had worked out their shift.
Her arches seemed to open as a doorway to the day...
but the sun was still sleeping, so I decided to stay.
T'was there I wrote a love song to the early morning chimes
and the rhythm of the river seemed to flow along the lines....

Red, brown and gold the second season came.
Down by the bridge the water seemed aflame...
with Autumn's reflections and, sheltered in my arm,
my love was beside me and all the world was warm.
We saw the floodlit city against the midnight sky.
A time to remember when winter comes by......

Now I lean on her wall and watch the crowds hurry by.
The song in the air is now a newspaper cry.
The road begins to tremble with the traffic passing through
and in a smoky morning I lost the bridge I knew...
I tried to sing my love song but the words were out of rhyme
and the river made no answer for today he had no time.....
