When He Sang Lousiana
Requested by Steve Bullock & Kris Hibbert
...empty bottles
You can't pour your problems into empty bottles
and throw 'em over a wall.....

Righting your wrongs in too much wine don't do no use at all.
You can't pour your problems into empty bottles and throw 'em over a wall....
'Cos they just keep track and they come bouncin' back when you least expect them to.
They were doing just that on the the night that we met - the night I was losing you....

...Louisiana...CHORUS:
But when he sang 'Louisiana' - oh he just washed all my troubles away.
There was something in his manner that made me want him to stay - so I asked him to stay...
and I know in my life I've heard a lot of good music and I reckoned I'd heard the best of 'em play....
but when he sang 'Louisiana' he just took all of my breath away....

It could have been for me, that day, that there'd be nothing left at all....
but it doesn't pay to be so short-sighted, just turning your eyes to the wall.
And though there's no new face could ever take your place, it's something he wouldn't try...
He just sang his songs and he tagged along until the pain got eased inside.

...Louisiana...CHORUS:
And when he sang 'Louisiana' - oh he just washed all my troubles away.
There was something in his manner that made me want him to stay - so I asked him to stay...
and I know in my life I've heard a lot of good music and I reckoned I'd heard the best of 'em play....
but when he sang 'Louisiana' he just took all of my breath away....

When you're losing one of life's beautiful souls you're hard put not to ask - Why?
And I demanded the answer (expecting none) on the night that we said goodbye...
but maybe I had to lose you just to hear him - and I think now I understand....
You've got to learn the lesson - that as life takes, it can give with the other hand...

...Louisiana...CHORUS:
And when he sang 'Louisiana' - oh he just washed all my troubles away.
There was something in his manner that made me want him to stay - so I asked him to stay...
and I know in my life I've heard a lot of good music and I reckoned I'd heard the best of 'em play....
but when he sang 'Louisiana' he just took all of my breath away....
