THE JARS

26. Using the Path Tools - Shape - Rounded Rectangle: Mode - 3D: Border - 6: Depth - 30: draw a shape approximately 36W x 10H pixels for the lid of the jar.

27. Fill this with G23 from the EasyPalette/Material Attribute Gallery/Glass.

28. Now draw another rounded rectangle (Border - 1) approximately 29W x 8H pixels for the stopper for the lid. Place this directly below the lid.

29. Fill the stopper with G24 from the EasyPalette/Material Attribute Gallery/Glass.

30. Now using the same shape (Border 6) draw the body of the jar - approximately 37W x 37H pixels.

31. Fill this with G23 from the EasyPalette/Material Attribute Gallery/Glass.

32. Now use the Lighting button in the Path Panel (see left) to move the light on this piece until you have a distinct light on one or both sides of the piece.

Your jar should now look like the illustration opposite. Select the three pieces of your jar and Right Click/Merge as Single Object.

33. Now draw another rounded rectangle - approximately 33W x 27H pixels for the contents of the jar. I have used a number of my own presets for the contents - mainly the 'foliage' presets for the herbs. You can use a plain colour or a preset of your choice to fill the rectangle. Once you have applied your preset Right click/Send Backward behind the glass of your jar.

34. Now - using the Path Tools, Shape - Rectangle: Colour - White: Mode - 2D: draw a rectangle approximately 30W x 15H pixels for your label. You can decorate your labels any way you like but as there is little room on them for the names of the herbs I have just chosen to edge the label in green. I did this by selecting the Paint Tools/Paintbrush - Size 1: Colour - Green and clicking on Effect/Paint On Edges.

35. At this point select all parts of your jar, its contents and label (do this in the Layer Manager if you find it difficult to 'get hold' of the glass pieces or use the Marquee method outlined below) and Right Click/Duplicate. Move this copy of the jar along the shelf and do the same again 3 times - making a total of 5 jars.

Selection by using a marquee:
You do this by selecting the pick tool, holding the mouse button down and creating a rectangular 'marquee' around those objects - as I have done around the completed chives jar opposite. When you let go of the mouse button the marquee will select only those objects contained fully within it - i.e. the jar, label and contents. All you need to do now is Right Click/Merge as Single Object. Easy!

36. Now select all the pieces of this row of jars and Right Click/Duplicate. Move this Duplicate row down to the shelf below.

Do this twice more to fill the four shelves with jars.

37. Now - click on the 'contents' piece of the first jar and Right Click/Convert Object Type/From Path/Text to Image. Using the Object Paint Eraser (size about 4 or 5), erase a little of the top of the contents to look more realistic.

38. Select the contents of the jars in turn (you should find you can do this quite easily - even though they are 'behind' the glass) - giving them different presets/colours for herbs or spices and then repeat the procedure in 37 to shape the tops of the pieces.

39. Now use the Text Tool to put a name on each jar. You will need to vary the size of the font according to the length of the name.

Select a row of jars (use Layer Manager or Marquee Method) and Right Click/Align/Top to neaten them up if you wish too.

40. Once you are happy with your jars, select the 'four retaining bars object' that you made (unless you opted not to do this) and Right Click/Bring to Front. Now you know why I left this separate from the rest of the rack - you can move it to the best place to show your jars!

41. If you are going to show some of your jars OUT of the Rack now is the time to remove them.

Select all/ the remaining jars plus the Rack and Right Click/Merge as Single Object.
